Satellite telescope mount enclosure
Sattech Engineering designed a custom telescope mount enclosure for AIC, Canada, developed to carry and protect a 200 mm telescope assembly during transport and deployment. The project required a lightweight but strong mechanical structure capable of supporting the optical system while meeting demanding space-related constraints.
The original construction was designed in aluminum, with a later update planned for 3D printed plastic. The enclosure and support structure had to withstand forces of up to 7G during transport to the destination, while keeping the telescope safely positioned inside the container.
The complete assembly is placed inside a container used during launch and deployment. Once released into space, spring-loaded side panels open automatically, increasing the available surface area for integrated solar panels. This mechanism allows the system to remain compact during transport and expand after deployment.
